: : I'm currently doing a paper on the novel and movie Johnny Got His Gun. I need to compile information on where it is taught in the U.S. and abroad. I'd very much appreciate it if people would write in and tell me whether their high school/college used either the novel or the movie in their curriculum. Thanks!
Hi Anna,
I'm a secondary school English teacher who read the novel as a 6th grader 27 years ago. Obviously, it made an impression on me if I still viscerally recall the novel. I'm wondering why I no longer see it in curricula. I'd like to read it again. Is it well written? Is Trumbo no longer in favor? Is it too horrific? I don't know. I'll watch your sight for input and, in the interrim, try and scrounge up a copy.
