I am doing a paper comparing and contrasting John Donne's "Batter My Heart, Three-Personed God, For You" and Mark Jarman's "Unholy Sonnet: After The Praying". I need to examine the tone of each poem and what it contributes to the poems overall theme. Why is tone used in each poem? What is the speakers attitude toward religion, death and salvation? What are the similiarities and differences of the two speakers and their situations? If their is any way you can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I'm very confused about these poems. Please let me know something.
