You asked: exactly who is the speaker of the poem?
Certainly this is coming from John Donne's heart. I would hazard that this is reflective of his innermost feelings, thoughts, and desires. However, all such things of intense timeless beauty are mirrors.
So, who is the speaker?
Why, it is John Donne.
OK, who really is the speaker?
Me, myself and you, yourself, the reader.
