Alyosha is the hero. Much of the book is centered around Alyosha's action and although it is not from his point of view it is experienced from a third person omniscient with him as the main character. Aside from that, Alyosha is the only Karamazov that does not have any sin and has translated the Karamozov "thirst" for life into something altruistic. He experiences the most conflict with trying to solve his own problems of faith and questions of God and what is right as well as the more practical problems of the his family. He is the mediator and the character that attempts to solve the conflicts in the book.
