: I've never had particular trouble in writing a literary ysis, but this time I'm struggling. How can I elaborate on a thesis of a novel I still have conflicting feelings about? Usually books end with a defining moral, a purpose, an impression of how the author feels etc. However, at the end of this novel, I know salvation is received with suffering, that God is love, and that Christianity is hope for the terrifying freedom of Man and the sinful conscience of Man. But it doesn't show me how to become a Christian, how to turn vain suffering into a suffering conscious of salvation, etc. If Dostoevksy was so orthodox, why did he make his atheists so convincing, and why does he have them do most of of the theological teaching? How am I to fill only 2 pages of such an intricate and involved novel? Help!
