I do not know everything about the theory of relativity, however, I will attempt to explain what I know in as simple a manner as possible....here we go: : 1:The general principle behind the theory of relativity is that "time" is relative---that means that the page of time (or more accurately the perception of time) is not always a constant i.e the time dialation effect. : Einstein says that as we approach the speed of light time slows down and m increases. : Let's say that we were in a starship and we were traveling at half the speed of light, time for us would p more slowly than the time outside the ship (the rest of the universe). In theory, a hunderd years could have ped by outside the starship, but inside as little as a few minutes could have elapsed. : M also increases, this means that it requires more energy to propell the craft as we continue to gain speed. : At the speed of light it would require an infinite amount of power in order to maintain it's speed.This causes some scientists to believe that it is impossible to reach the speed of light.....there are ways around this. Warp travel or wormhole travel are two of the prefered methods, but we have not got the ability to test these yet. : When you think of the Theory of relativity think of time as being relative (time is not a constant.) : well, I hope i helped you, bud!
